This route is a temporary re-design of the Mudfish Route. I hate the 13-mile loop, so I'm adapting the route to start and end in the basin. The entire route is a product of my own explorations. It includes some familiar features and some new features, but they are all fun and provide many different challenges. Along the way, we'll hit a couple of peaks.
We'll take the Guardian Angel route to the beginning of the Mudfish Route and then follow the Mudfish. We'll climb through some slots on our way up to the first view point. This is a pretty steep climb, so be prepared. Then we'll come down a new slot and almost immediately begin climbing up again. We'll cross a bridge and head up a not so familiar slot on our way up to the peak.
Then we'll head down through an infamous slot that shall remain nameless (porthole). From there we'll go through "Sebbastion's passage," and then head back down to the trail head through some new and unfamiliar paths.
Some of this route covers places we've seen many times, but we'll see them from different angles, so it will all look different. We'll enjoy the different colors and formations of rocks and we may even run into some wildlife. Check out my wildlife gallery for some of my favorite pictures of some animals I've seen.
Not for beginners or those afraid of heights. There are many places that require advanced scrambling skills and there is some exposure. You must be able to pull your body weight up and lower yourself down using your arms.
No guests will be allowed.
To prevent crashing, the meeting location will be emailed only to people who are going. And just in case that isn't clear: CRASHING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED!

The Vegas Hikers Pins are now available to everybody.
These pins have been made possible by generous donations from many of our members. They are available for a $5 donation. There are now pins for reaching 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 hikes with Vegas Hikers. For a $10 or higher donation, you will get the Vegas Hikers pin and you will receive the other pins when you reach those milestones. All donations will go toward replenishing the pin fund so that we can continue to provide them.
